ABOUT SOLUTION FOCUSED HYPNOTHERAPY

Clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a talking therapy, which provides a relaxing, positive environment in which you can start to resolve troublesome issues, and feel like you're re-gaining some control in your life.

SFH  gives you the tools to maintain positivity outside of the therapy room, bringing about lasting changes that you can continue to practice for life!

Children (from around 8 years of age) can benefit from hypnotherapy too.

I offer appointments in person or online.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy consists of two aspects:

Psychotherapy (positive talking and visualisation) and the deep relaxation Trance (hypnosis).

It is focused on the solution to whatever is troubling you. Which means, unlike other forms of counselling or therapy, we won’t be delving deep into the issues that are causing you concern. At the first meeting I will ask a few questions to name the concern, to find out what you'd like help with. During each subsequent session we take small steps to work towards your goal, whether that’s helping you become free of the shackles of crippling anxiety, helping you to lift your depression, get over a phobia that’s been troubling you for years, or stopping smoking.

Imagine having peace of mind - being confident, happy and in control of your problem. When you relax deeply into a hypnotic trance, your subconscious mind is open to suggestions – and we can work together to bring about those changes that you’re hoping for. That could be if you're a nervous flyer, if you want to improve self-confidence or if you need help controlling panic attacks.

The approach I take is supported by the latest neuroscientific research. The methods and practices are developed from some of the world’s most influential psychologists and psychotherapists. Bringing trance into the psychotherapeutic setting gives us the best modern techniques to help us make a proper assessment, cope better and achieve our goals in life.

Hypnosis is safe and natural, we go in and out of trance many times a day. It happens when we're not actively concentrating, for example when driving a familiar route, watching television, colouring or crafting, out for a run, or reading a good book. Whilst you’re relaxing deeply, I will be talking to your subconscious, which allows positive ideas to take hold and be actioned in your normal everyday waking state. You remain in full control at all times – a hypnotist or hypnotherapist can’t make you do anything outside of your moral or ethical code.

Take a look on the services page for the range of issues I can help you with.

We may find the one issue is tied in with other things, and as we deal with one, so it helps another. Examples of this are confidence and Irritable Bowel Syndrome – if we work on your anxiety, the symptoms of IBS could reduce too, or you may find yourself feeling more confident to tackle a challenging task.

Hypnotherapy is a complimentary therapy, not intended to replace traditional healthcare. If you are concerned about any aspect of your physical or mental wellbeing, I would recommend you consult with your GP prior to booking an appointment with me and follow their advice regarding medication.
