ABOUT ME

Katharine Gardner clinical hypnotherapist

I'm a Clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapist. I can help with a wide range of issues. Solution focused hypnotherapy can be a really effective method of encouraging us to think and act in a positive way - this in turn enables us to control or change our habits, have a healthier lifestyle, sleep better, and overall feel happier.

I'm a mum of three; I have a long-suffering husband;  and I love swimming, baking yummy cakes and reading crime novels, very occasionally discussing them at our local Book Club!

I have a degree in business management from Gloucestershire University. Prior to training as a clinical hypnotherapist I worked in the hospitality industry as a wedding co-ordinator. The most enjoyable aspects were meeting interesting people and helping them make their dreams come true - and I'm happy to be able to continue doing that with my hypnotherapy clients now, by resolving their issues, allowing them to cope better and becoming happier. It really is inspirational and humbling to see how people change for the better right before your eyes!

I work from home in a lovely garden office, in a quiet village location, where you can see me in person, or on zoom.

I’ve experienced stress in the workplace, family worries, financial difficulties, and other challenges over the years that built up into a really tough mindset. I really lost my way, couldn’t see what was worth getting enthusiastic over, in short… I lost my smile. Sure, I had a fake one, my everyday “I’m fine!” smile…. But my family and my close friends knew I wasn’t happy or coping well. I tried solution focused hypnotherapy and it helped me cement the idea that I could make a change in my life – and I was worthy of a happy and meaningful existence! Once I decided I wanted to help bring about that change in others, my path to training for a career in hypnotherapy was set!

In 2018 I trained at the well-respected, international hypnotherapy training provider: the Clifton Practice, based in Bristol (www.cpht.co.uk).  I completed a 10 month course and received two qualifications: a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and a Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), awarded by the ncfe (www.ncfe.org.uk). The course was full of practical experience through case studies as well as academic study, based on the most up to date knowledge in the field of neuroscience. So we know how the brain works and why we develop certain conditions, and most importantly we can identify what can be done to help alleviate those problems.

You can be assured that my performance is monitored by CPHT and I am committed to continuous professional development. I have a full disclosure certificate (DBS check) which means I can work unsupervised with children and vulnerable persons; I am fully insured; and I am a member of two professional associations, which monitor standards, provide a code of conduct: The Association of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) www.afsfh.com and The National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) www.hypnotherapists.org

I have a keen interest in reading books on topics such as neuroscience, self-help and mindfulness; and I also undertake CPD courses to enhance my skills, such as:

Menopause AwarenessWorking with Children; Addiction; Calm Pregnancy & Labour; Neuroscience,

Working with Children with ChallengesWeight Management and Understanding Children & Young People's Mental Health.
