What will happen during a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session?

After your initial consultation, when you return for your first treatment session, you’ll be asked about your week, what’s been good, what’s made you smile, what you’ve been proud of. This highlights the positive events, thoughts and feelings that have been going on. At no point will you be asked to describe or go into detail about your concerns. The method is truly ‘solution focused’ so you will only discuss the positives and be encouraged to look forward.

Next the therapist will discuss the notes and drawings that were made during the initial consultation. You'll discuss the workings of the brain and see how it relates to the answers you gave about your week at the start of this current session. The aim is to revise your knowledge from the previous session, and gets your mind in a positive place.

Moving on, next you’ll be asked some solution focused questions. These questions will help you to consider and choose small solutions to your issues that can help you to move forward in your life, in bite sized, manageable steps.

After this, you’ll then be asked to lie back in the chair or couch so you can quietly relax. The hypnotherapist will play a soothing background piece of music and will gently guide you into a relaxed state, where you can enjoy a day-dream-like state which we call trance. During trance your subconscious mind can reflect on the ideas that have just been discussed, and focus on finding positive solutions.

To finish the session you may be asked to rate your feelings on a scale, to gauge your progress over the course of the sessions.

Each subsequent session follows the same format. This creates familiarity and structure for measuring results.

So if you’re ready to start making some positive changes in your life, re-gain control and increase your happiness - contact me to have a chat. The initial consultation is free of charge, confidential and comes with no obligation to go ahead if you don’t feel it’s right for you.
